I agree with mlaceruby and pieces - the more inexpensive ones are not necessarily user friendly and do not have a lot of options. The used market is a great place to look - make sure that the person selling has had it maintained.
I agree. I bought the Singer Futura a few years ago. didn't do much with it because it was so cheaply made. It really was a piece of doo doo. Made me never want to try embroidery again. I finally got up the nerve to try again. I bought a used Janome 9500 got a GREAT deal and also traded in 3 machines I never use anymore.
