think i have just the pattern the doctor ordered....it a "6 hour quilt" by kaye wood. there is no quilting required. it is layered and stitched, folded forward hiding seams, etc. you use a high loft batting and the result is amazing. when you have gotten to the size you want, simply bind it and there it is. if you have trouble finding this pattern, let me know. this looks like a high dollar comforter but will last for a lifetime. you will love it. i am making one now for a friend's expected grandson in houston. i use flannel and denim for boys. you can pm me if you are interested.
