Sorry, don't have time to read all the replies so someome may have mentioned this already. One thing that helped me was to be sure to move my hand up the ruler as I cut, so my ruler hand was always fairly even with the rotory hand. Use the inch worm movement with my ruler hand as I cut. Hope I described this so it makes sense.
