I was 63 when our first grandchild was born and I was thinking that perhaps I wouldn't be around for our great grandchildren, so I decided to make a baby quilt (actually it is coverlet size) for each one of the grandchildren to use for their children. I embroidered blocks and then my mother taught me about sashing, the border, the backing, the batting and the binding. The quilts are wrapped up safe and sound and tucked away for the day my grandchildren have their first child. And from that point on, I have been quilting - some hard, some easy, some more fun than others, but so rewarding. Edie
