This my method and I don't know if the quilt police will approve or not. I like to cut my binding fabric on the straight grain. Other people say to use the bias, but I guess that would be your preference. I cut my strips 2 1/2 inches wide and double the to give the edge extra strength. I am not sure if I am answering your question or not. Maybe soemone else will jump in and help you out if this is not what you needed to know.
