It depends on what you mean by "RULES". I believe the following SHOULD NOT be broken:
1. Accurate marking and measuring
2. Accurate cutting
3. Accurate seams
4. Pressing for flat seams and blocks
These take much of the frustration out of quiltmaking.
I follow these, and break all the rest of the "rules".
