This is Ms. Smarty Pants here: the basket handles are easy peasy. First of all, you sew 1/4" seam, wrong sides together, along the length of the basket handle; then you center the seam at the back of the handle & press, making sure your seam allowances don't peek out at the sides.

After your entire block is sewn (except for the basket handle) you open up the section (4 or 5 stitches at most) where one end of the handle goes and stick a handle end in there. Then you pin & baste your handle exactly where it needs to go on the block corner (mark it or eyeball it, whichever works for you). Then you open up the few stitches on the other side of your basket for the other end of the handle, which should be way too long ... stick it through the hole that you made, pin/baste, applique stitch (by hand preferably) both edges , close up the holes you just made, flip the block over and cut off the excess handle. Ta da!
