I used some years ago and the only issue was after many washings, it frayed and I had to repair the seam by hand. I used a 3/8" or 1/2" seam allowance. So, I would say use a light interfacing or use the crazy quilt technique of top- stitching over the seams.
Let me further clarify by saying it was used in a scrappy quilt of various sized blocks that was tied together, not quilted.
