Ok, it's the one on the right! :) I just got the pieces cut for the first braid and came downstairs to make some coffee. I'll post the braid when it's done.
The pattern is called French Braid. It's an old traditional pattern, I believe. I got a book, French Braid Quilts by Jane Hardy Miller. There's not much to it other than knowing the size of the pieces.
Here is a standard braid. I didn't find a free french braid pattern online when I searched real quick.
