I think its a wonderful idea. I'd love to see it, can you post a pic?

There's another thread going on about quilts at funerals, and I posted about this on it, too.

In my area, there are a group of quilters that make up quilts and when someone passes on they embroider their name, whatever the family wants on it, and people send those instead of flowers. They are beautiful arranged up there with the flowers, usually on a tripod or something, with a gathering at the top with a bow.

When my sister's MIL passed on, some of the family members went in and had one done for each of the 3 children. It meant a LOT to them. I still remember her husband's sister just holding on to that quilt, I'm sure it was much more comforting than some flowers that will wilt after a few days.

With one that you've made yourself, well, you can imagine how much that will mean to your son.
