When a student in school we did this on purpose to make batik art "blocks". We ironed them with newspaper. Blank newspaper so you don't transfer the newspaper ink to the quilt. also, I thought the boiling idea was a good one unless it's not 100% cotton. However, if you do this, it will probably shrink.
