In the pattern instructions you sew though 5 layers of flannel (copy the picture of the lamb body onto the top layer, sew on the lines) and cut in between the curly ques, then you snip through the top four layers with your scissors (leave the bottom layer) about every 1/8 to 1/4 inch close to the stitching (but not through the stitching) and after you wash it, it comes out really fuzzy. Time consuming and hand fatiguing, but I liked the final product. I just worked at the clipping a little bit a time.
