I had two nieces who stole a lot of memorabilia from Mom's house after she died in July, 2005. What I miss the most is the quilts she had stored in her trunk. There were 8 bed size and 1 lap throw that had been quilted by my grandmother (Mom's mother) that the quilting looked like a child's beginning quilting, but my grandmother could barely see what she was doing and it was probably the last quilting she ever did. It was done in the last few years of her life and she passed away at age 91. These two nieces have never married (ages 59 & 56) and I think they probably sold them for money. My Dad raced horses (he died in 1968) and they took all the memorabilia from that and I don't have any pictures even (nor copies) to look at except a few snapshots. There were several awards letters, and I don't have copies of those even. I lived 500 miles away and was Mother's executrix and my husband died 4 months after my mother--so you can imagine. These nieces live in the same town I do with their mother and father who both need watching over now. I'm afraid my sister and her husband are being the victims of elder abuse--just not of the physical kind, but they sure are being lied to.
