My mom quilted, but I really taught myself after she died. My first quilt was a cross-stitch pattern called Yorktown. Still have it. My favorite is the Grandmothers Fan. I have made baby quilts for family. I don't belong to any groups, not good enough to even think about entering shows. My oldest quilt is one my Grandmother and Mom made in the early 1900's. I'Ve tried , but never convinced anyone to quilt, but I have helped my niece when she started out. I quilt because I love sewing, I love taking a piece of fabric and making it into something pretty. Sewing has always been something I did for myself, my needs, whtever they were at the time.
