When you are alergic to penicillin, there is a 25% cross over rate for people to be alergic to both of them. I am also alergic to sulfa and tetracycline........there goes the cheap antibiotics. I wear a bracelet at all times. Penicillin is life threatening for me.
My mom and grandmother (mom's side) are/were both allergic to penicillin, as well as sulfa. I have never had any sulfa drugs, but something tells me I'm probably allergic to that as well. I was a bit surprised that the doctor gave me the cephalosporin, because of the penicillin allergy, and because I'm pregnant. Yep.... I don't get to use the cheap antibiotics either! I'm glad I have good insurance.....
