There are bias edges so make sure the fabric is starched before you cut the batwing pieces.
You fold the length of both the wing section and the center block section--make a tiny crease on the center fold of the fabric- place a pin thru the crease on the wrong side of the batwing piece -bring the point of the pin to the crease on the rightside of the center block-push it thru- this is the center of both pieces. do not remove the pin- anchor same pin-now you can pin the rest of the seam as you normally would and sew.
