A board member sent me this Japanese Fan quilt to quilt for her. I have had this one for awhile. I needed specialty threads and just the courage to get started. This is the first of its kind that I have done. I thought it would be fun to chronicle from start to finish. So here goes....

Top of quilt (I wish I thought to take a picture of the whole quilt)

On the outside border I am going around the spikes with metallic thread

I draw on top of the blocks and audition my design

I use a flexible ruler to mark my lines

Then I use a template to help me stay on the line

Feathers on. Done for the night!

Test my tension. This is why we ask for 3-4" larger backing.
