Who taught you how to quilt? Started on my own

What pattern was the first quilt you made? My first quilt was a checkerboard with borders. It was knotted.

Do you still have your 1st quilt? It was a wedding gift for my younger brother

Which of your quilts is your favorite and why? That is really hard to say. I love them all. I guess the one on my bed right now. It is blue and yellow design of my own and hand quilted.

What do you do with the quilts you make? Many are given away, some are made for cancer patients, some for special gifts, plus some for the homeless.

What is the oldest quilt in your collection? One made by my mother before I was married which was in 1964.

Do you belong to a guild, or attend workshops? I belong to a small quilt group which meets twice monthly. Recently I have attended a couple of workshops and went to a quilt retreat in the spring.

Have you ever entered a quilt in a quilt-show or fair? I have entered quilts in the Buckwheat Festival, our county fair, and West Virginia quilters state quilt show.

Have you encouraged others to try quilting? Yes. I have taught a couple of people how to quilt and encourage my daughter who lives in another state. She is now working on her second quilt.

Why do you quilt? I quilt because I love it and God has given me opportunities to share something of myself with others.
