No quarter inch seam, Leota. I just lay down a selvage (usually on a foundation) and lay another selvage over the raw edge of the first selvage. Sew along the very bottom edge of the second selvage so the raw edge of the first selvage is covered and sewn down. Continue the process until your foundation is covered.
