Copy away! Yes, the candy bars are the ironing surface. The cutting mat is not attatched. The cutting area is 1/2" thick and I've had no problems with it. I put down heavy duty foil, cotton batting and cotton fabric.

Made sure to attach the ironing surface with four small hinges so the mat wouldn't slide through. I did put contact paper on the table top just so it would look nicer-an idea from sis Dingle. The rest is just painted 2 x 4's. I love it!
