I usually cut my fabrics width of fabric, so they would be 42-44" long. My recommendation would be cut 3 strips at 2" wide, trim off all the selvages and cut the 3rd strip in half and sew to the ends of the others. If your fabric is not 44" you may need a 4th strip.
