My mom is gone now, but she remarried when I was a senior in high school. They asked people not to buy gifts. He owned a house, Mom owned a house. They didn't need anything for the house and Mom sewed all of the time. They still received some personal gifts. It was nice, but I think gift cards would be much better. They could be for dinner or they could be for places that you shop at a lot.
