Thanks to all for your suggestions. I'll certainly research them. I've tried the vinyl thimble, but not the leather one. The thimble ring fits but the needle slips. (Don't you just hate a cry-baby!) Sew Krazy Girl, you should go to Cozy Quilts in El Cajon! She had some of the smaller plastic thimbles when I was back home a few months ago. Maybe the smallest one will fit your fingers. I can't use thimbles so I use the gloves with the soft little dots under the hands from Fons & Porter. They work perfect for me when I am using needle and thread.
By the way, I'm actually from La Jolla, CA - - just in Kansas for a job assignment. Small world, huh??
