When this happens I offer to go with him to the home improvement store & see what's new, etc. I get to pick up things not only for the house but have picked up some quilting tools too (on his dime !) My husband's in construction so not much gets done to help our house out- just like the shoemakers kids going without shoes (as my mom always said)
