What type of batting is it? Polyester or cotton? If it's cotton, you can place the two pieces side by side and sew them together with a zigzag stitch. If it's polyester, you place the two pieces on top of each other and do a loose whipstitch along the side, and when done, you lay them side by side and the whip stitch is loose enough to allow it.
