I have that machine and attaching the walking foot is not difficult. Do you still have your instruction manual? The trick is to loosen the screw on the left to place the yoke of the walking foot in, and make sure the long arm of the foot attaches to the right hand screw. It does make a difference in wrinkles in the quilt.
I am partial to quilting on the diagonal all the way across the quilt. It goes really fast. I draw one line (with removable blue painters tape) on the quilt, and then use the walking foot as my guide for the next lines. Sometimes I just use painters tape and draw all the lines.
