I haven't read the whole thread yet, but after reading this post, here are my thoughts. I LOVE plaids also. I love so many of the plaids that would go with the blue background. And that would be my personal choice....But ...I do see some plaids that you may consider using with an earth tone background.
You have so many nice plaids that you may want to consider the blues, etc. on one side and the earth tones on the other side.
