I read James Patterson - start with the first of the Alex Cross books Along came a spider or the Ladies Murder Club book 1st to die. He has some stand alone books and some written with other writers. I also like Lee Child's Jack Reacher series. (Start with Killing floor) Another author is Catherine Coulter's FBI series about Savage and Sherlock. (Start with The Cove) Enjoy!
