at least he got rid of the scrap! my husband is the same way..right now he is adding onto the back of the garage..he wanted to do it himself. he works a 12 hour day..

so he was out there everynight until it either got to dark to see, or until the mosquitos brought him to the back door.
just for fun, i got an estimate..they are free.
$3,400. for a 10' by 24' add on..cement work. PLUS the estimate included replacing 3 large slabs in the driveay that are badly cracked.
he dug the 36" trench..rat wall, took the dirt to the front on the driveway..(now it has to be handled again..into a truck to the dump, then be shoveled out of the truck) why does he not think his time is worth money?
he moved 3 yards of gravel from the front of the driveway to behind the garage..in the rain, and rented a tamper. in the rain..it had to be moved, otherwise the rain would of hardened it like cement! he ordered all the wood to build the forms..did all that. Bless his heart..
he came home early 2 times so he could work on saving money on his addition.
he changed his day off from saturday to wednesday, so he could be there when it was inspected, and be there when the lumber yard unloaded the trusses. now we had a wedding to go to this saturday, and now he has to work. so i will go by myself..which doesn't bother me..i don't have to cook!
MEN!
the rest of the lumber will be dropped off monday..in the driveway of course. which he will have to move to the back..
he is 54 years old..works way to hard to save a few bucks. what took him 2 weeks..would of taken the cement company 2 days..and it would of been done.
oh, and clean up? not yet..but i am sure he will make the time!
