Rag quilts are where you take a sq, say an 8x8" sq. When you join your sq's you sew your seam on the right side of your fabric or top side of your quilt. You sew about a 1/2" seam. Joining all your sq's in this manner. After you connected all your sq's for the size quilt you want, then you go back and clip all your seam, about a 1/4" apart all over the quilt. You can rag the edges of your quilt by sewing a line about 1/2" from the edge of your quilt all the way around your quilt, and then clip every 1/4" all around the edge, therefore elimnating a binding and adding to the ragging effect.
May sure you don't clip your seam line, only clip the depth of your seam allowance.
