I decided to make a 9 patch with quilt as you go so I could get the hang of that concept. Well, needless to say I am applying the "man on a galloping horse" rule, but overall I am happy with how it turned out. It is a gift for a long-time friend of mine's daughter. It's twin size and I'll be making a pillowcase to go with it this afternoon. They have recently relocated back to their roots in Iowa and finding jobs has been a challenge, so I thought a quilt might perk the daughter up and a bowtucks will do wonders for the mom.

I really like the QAYG method but I don't like the look of the sashing part, so am going to try again only just sewing the sqs. together with stitch in the ditch for the final sewing. If that doesn't work I may do the back with hand stitching. Just thinking out loud here.
