I would take vellum (tracing paper) and draw my design with a pigma marker and glue stick it to the top (out side) fabric to keep it from slipping. Then FMQ --this way if the stitching passes your muster on the front but not the bobbin side you have a nice looking out side and the inside can be covered with a lining. Or draw the pattern on the fabric itself. I just find the tracing paper keeps my design so I can see it. Good Luck. Practice on something else first --even just plain muslin and see how you do before doing the purse fabric.
