I'm curious what exactly you didn't like about the sashing on the QAYG. I'm planning to do one in the near future and I have some doubts about the sashing. I guess I can't get it clear in my head, and I hate to get the quilt just about done and then find out I don't like the way it turned out.
I don't like them being so narrow, but before I knew what I had done I had trimmed my batting too short and so the sashings had to be too narrow for my liking. Personal preference there. I also am not crazy about how the stitching on the back "sashings" went. I wanted it to be all done on the machine, tho- no hand sewing, so I made it work, but next time I will try something different.

There is a good tutorial on this site about QAYG with no hand sewing. It was very helpful to me.

It was a good quilt to learn on, as the recipient would love it good, bad or ugly. LOL! I'm looking forward to giving it to her next week.
