I have been making quilts for grandchildren and I have put the extra blocks in a bag with their name on it. When they get the quilt I tell them if it gets messed up bring it to me and I will repair it. This way I do not have to save any scraps for possible repairs. I can use them for applique. I came up with this idea years ago when my Mother made my daughter a Sun Bonnet Sue with hand Black blanket stitching. My daughters dog tore a whole in it and we had to just patch it because we had not saved anything. Gail
