You can even piece the background if you want. You can make it look like scenery in the back of them--blue sky,a fence, green grass, trees, birds flying, etc. As with any quilts they're your creations to be made as simple or as elaborate as you want. You can add pockets and hankerchiefs to the Sams, lace or embroidery to the Sues. You can even have Sue pulling a wagon or holding a teddy bear/doll. It just depends on you, your imagination and the stash you have to pull from.
