Yes, I have done the same thing as far as keeping a quilt I had made and did not want to give it to the family member I had made it for. Eventually, I decided to send it to my niece and she was very grateful but I sent the quilt with regret. I think I would like to make another with same pattern but I did part with it. You are not selfish at all.
