The other iron is a Panasonic, it stays on for an hour. It only spits if I don't let it heat up enough before using steam. I do have lots of lime in the water here, so about every month I run vinegar through it or it leaves brown stains on my fabric that won't come out.
I have a very old GE, it has to be at least 30 years old. I also use a spray bottle if I want steam. It gets HOT. It will be a sad day when it goes.
