I would not rely on the information about blocks in the Underground RR books. Much discussion about the accuracy.
Barbarga Brackman is one excellent source; probably the best. Her books on blocks give dates and source of each block in the book. Believe they are titled: Encyclopedia of Pieced Patterns" and Encyclopedia of Applique Patterns" She also did a series of articles in Quilter's Newsletter on blocks and focused on blocks with similar themes such as those of state names.
