Welcome. I'm also new to quilting, but you have so much more related experience then I do, so you'll be superb in no time at all. I haven't made a memory quilt, so can't help with that.
I suggest you add another post explaining what you want to do in one of the other topics, and "headline' it with what you want to do. The folks on this site are so helpful, I'm sure someone can help you.
Please let me express my sympathy on the loss of your grand daughter. I cannot begin to imagine the emotional pain of losing a child or grandchild.
