I've made a few but I really like your idea of matching the mug to the mat!
I just "color-matched".
I started mine out with just color-matched fabric. I didn't start out to mimic the mug design, it's just how it finally got finished after ripping out about 3 ideas before that.
I love your color-matched rugs and the designs you created.
