I'm pleased to answer your questions!

I use a patchwork solid fabric with a high thread count - the best one for me is a fabric with 75 -80 threads per square inch in each direction. Unfortunately the thread count is not written on the fabric bolds but after 20 years of handquilting I can see the right quality from a distance of a few meters... I love to use the P&B Solids or the Moda Bella Solids. They are available in many different colors. I've also used muslin with a similar thread count and it works great.

I normally use hand quilting thread and I prefer the YLI brand. I've also used Gütermann and King Tut and Treasure of Superior Threads. I can do 12-14 stitches to an inch (only counted on the top), sometimes one or two more - it depends a lot of the fabric and the batting.

My prefered battings are Hobbs or Legacy 80/20, Quilters Dream cotton, Legacy or Tuscany cotton, all low loft. I want to have the look of an antique quilt and theses battings are good for that!

If you have some further questions - just ask!
