Is meander and echoing the same thing? I am not very good at my fmq. I have tried the pocket now 2 times. I think this time it may be ok.
When the stitching is meandering like your final choice around the butterflies, I have resorted to using the regular straight stitch. It handles those loose curves beautifully. I have actually successfully sewn a 2" diameter circle on my bow tuck pockets using the straight stitch. I too, have not come close to mastering the FMQ. Yours butterflies look great by the way.
