I have been trying out different binding tips...I just installed the zipper foot...hope it works. I am practicing on a coffee table runner...used the scrap from my wall quilt. Glueing and ironing the quilt was awesome...ok off to go try that zipper foot for the binding.

I had not thought of using different colors & that is a
fantastic idea! That idea alone tells me you've done it right!
I'm noticing a new post on the board about applying the
binding by machine & I'm hot to learn that method!!!
