I just finished by using the zipper foot...looks ok, it was fast! not overjoyed about the corners I may hand stitch them so they look neater. Glad I am practicing on a table runner...and not a real quilt!

I had not thought of using different colors & that is a
fantastic idea! That idea alone tells me you've done it right!

I'm noticing a new post on the board about applying the
binding by machine & I'm hot to learn that method!!!
