You can check out the September Secret Pal Swap thread to see photos packages sent last month. About anything is appropriate, your secret pal will tell you their favorite colors and if they collect anything. Fabrics, notions, handmade items,patterns, chocolate, notepads and stuff like that are popular gifts.
