When my DD was a sophomore in college, her and her roommate decided to attend summer term @ King's College in London. Yikes! Two 21 year old girls traipsing off to Europe. I was a nervous wreck....and needed a challenge to keep my mind occupied. My only comfort was that least they would be staying in the dorm on campus....come to find out they only had classes 3 days a week, and took off travelling the rest of the time!

Since the Fall colors/season is my very favorite, decided to take on the 'tesselating leaves' pattern. It definitely kept my mind busy. I used graph paper and colored pencils for each row...note that a portion of every leaf extends into the block next to it AND into the block below and or above it. I named this quilt "Fall of 55" as I finished it in time for my 55th birthday in October of that year. And by the way, the girls made it home just time with great stories to tell, and wonderful memories.
