Just because you have other animals for him to play with doesn't mean he isn't having separation anxiety from you! Do you have to leave him alone during the day? You did rescue him so he might be looking at you as his mother and having two mothers abandon him might be more than he can swallow (although sounds like he can swallow drywall, lol!).
