Well, I received my Kindle yesterday and immediately downloaded several free books (and no charge for whispernet as long as you aren't downloading pdf documents). It was ready to straight out of the box, registration was already done. Reading the instructions took very little time and I feel pretty confident about getting it to do what I want. I started reading last night, and stayed up way too late. :mrgreen:
Also, I discovered that audible.com is part of Amazon so those wonderful "theatrically read" audio books can be put on the kindle too, through the fast whispernet. Just plug in the ear buds (I use the ones that I got for my ipod.) and you're ready to go.
