Not sure why you are breaking needles trupeach 1

I have 3 for 3 different machines. My Janome 6600 has a built-in walking foot. The other two are the same and just attach to the shank as per normal, just make sure the arm sits above the needle bar.
If you still are breaking needles you should take it and your machine back to Hancocks. Also if you have a LQS you could take both to them and ask advice. You will be so glad you took the time once you figure it out. I couldn't imagine making a quilt without mine.

PS Just had another thought, keep your needle in the central position so if you do any fancy stitches you don't hit the presser foot.
