Yes, use a microtex (sharps) needle for batiks, not a quilting or universal needle. It has a sharper point and a thinner shaft and will go between the threads of the denser weave of batiks. Needles have to go with the fabric as well as with the thread. It is the SIZE that goes with the thread and the TYPE that goes with the fabric.
